CARING FOR & CLEANING YOUR SHOES

With a bit of care, we can keep your shoes timeless. Follow our easy steps to extend the life of your shoes and maintain their best condition.

Keeping Your Leather Shoes Clean

You should begin by gently removing any dirt from your loafers or boots with a soft shoe brush or cloth. Use a separate damp, clean cloth to wipe your shoe clean; for finished leather (a polished appearance), you can dilute a small amount of soap to clean the surface thoroughly.

Keeping Your Suede Shoes Clean

For suede, you should carefully blot the shoes with water and leave them to dry with stuffing (e.g. tissue paper, socks) inside to ensure they hold shape. For more severe stains, dab a small amount of white vinegar onto the affected area to spot clean and leave them to dry.

Polish & Shine

Keep your leather looking fresh with a wax polish. Using a natural applicator brush, apply a small amount to the surface, and buff and shine. You might want to use a cloth to achieve a polished shine.

Protect Your Leather

Once your shoes are clean, apply an even coating of leather/suede protector spray to the surface. This will help repel water and dirt, and will help ensure longevity for years to come.

OTHER TIPS

1Use Shoe Trees & Shoe Horns.

These little tools are indispensable. Add a shoe tree to your Weejuns® when storing to maintain shape and absorb moisture or dampness that creeds in. Use of a shoe horn is recommended to avoid breaking the heel seam down, thus weakening the structure of the shoe.

2Avoid Water. Dry Immediately, If Your Shoes Get Wet.

Leather soles do best when they stay dry, if you can avoid walking on wet surfaces. If your Weejuns® get wet, dry naturally, away from direct heat. Lay them on their sides, so that the leather sole gets plenty of ventilation. Rorate your shoes throughout the drying process, so that they have time to recover. Drying them with a shoe tree is idea, in order to maintain their shape.

3Pay Attention.

These are timeless shoes, that are handmade to last. So look at your relationship with your Weejuns® as a long-term thing. Treat them with care. Check in on them regularly. Follow these simple steps to maintain their condition, and don't wait until things get bad to take them to a repair shop, if needed.
